*The GLM #28830 complete lower gear housing is a direct replacement for the 1981-1985 OMC
lower gear housing. The installation of the 1981-1985 ESA (Electronic Shift Assist) components and
shift cable are necessary to replace the lower gear housing on the 1978-1980 OMC sterndrives with
hydraulic shift.
#The GLM #28830 complete V6/V8 lower gear housing (large diameter) can be used to replace the
1978-1985 four-cylinder lower gear housing (small diameter) if the upper housing gear ratio is
changed to 21:20. The installation of the 1981-1985 ESA (Electronic Shift Assist) components and
shift cable are necessary to replace the lower gear housing on the 1978-1980 OMC sterndrives with
hydraulic shift.
^The GLM #28600 lower housing will not replace the 1978-1980 OMC lower housings with hydraulic
shift.
