1978-1985 OMC Empty Gear Housing
Ready for Your Components

Don’t scrap a boat because of a damaged or corroded lower gear housing!
Replace it with a NEW housing from GLM.

The GLM #28800 will fit on all 1978 -1985 OMC sterndrives with a V6 or V8 engine and mechanical
shift*. It will accept the original internal and external OMC components**.
* Will not fit the 1978-1980 with hydraulic shift.
** Must use the propellor bearing carrier GLM #11406

List of improvements made to the GLM housing:

• Sand Cast from superior A356T5 Aluminum Alloy
(Original is Die Cast from inferior A380T6)

• Mercruiser style pressed fit pinion needle bearing
(Original is held in place with a screw)

• Prop Shaft Carrier is retained with bolts and tabs (1991-1993 Cobra style)
(1978-1985 carriers are held in place with internal snap rings and 1/4” bolts)

• Prop Shaft Carrier is prevented from rotating with a key and groove

• Water pickup screens are removable with out disassembling the drive.
(1978-1985 water screens are removed only from the inside of the gear housing)
