* Starting with model year 1975 all driven gears were machined to accept a centering cone below the drive shaft retaining nut.
This centering cone requires a drive shaft with a shorter spline.
Upper gear housings, model year 1973 and 1974, with the original driven gear (no centering cone) require GLM #22423 drive
shaft with longer splines. This drive shaft fits only the high profile gear case. GLM does not manufacture the drive shaft
with longer splines for the low profile gear case.
All 1975 and newer upper gear housings and all older upper gear housings utilizing the new driven gear (with centering cone)
will utilize drive shaft GLM #22412 (low profile) or GLM #22422 (high profile).
**The high profile upper gear housing was discontinued for 1978.
***All 1978-1985 upper gear housings are low profile.
