GLM PISTONS ARE 100% CAST
PISTON RING COATINGS COMPARISON
DID YOU KNOW sometimes as much as 30% of engine friction comes from
the piston rings? Therefore, 2-ring pistons have less friction than 3-ring pistons.
To minimize piston ring friction in the engine you should:
• Choose the right ring tension and coating.
• If for oversize, check that the bore size is correct.
• Change the engine oil regulary.
RING COATING SCUFF RESISTANCE WEAR RESISTANCE
Plain Poor Low
Plasma Moly Excellent Good
Nitriding Average Excellent
Chrome Average Excellent
Warning: GLM will not cover the warranty for non-authorized marine engine boring services.
